Installing the App

The Navisport mobile app is available from the Google Play Store for Android devices.

  1. Open the Google Play Store on your Android device
  2. Search for Navisport
  3. Tap Install
  4. Once installation is complete, open the app

The app requires Android 7.0 or later.

Logging In

On first launch you'll see the login screen.

  1. Enter your Username and Password — the same credentials as the desktop application
  2. Tap Log in

If you don't have an account yet, registration is done through the desktop application — see Account & Login.

Setting the Device Name

After the first login, the app asks you to name the device. The name identifies this phone or tablet when you assign devices to checkpoints in the desktop application.

  1. Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "Finish phone", "Start tablet", "Control 5 reader")
  2. Tap Save

If you have multiple devices, clear names prevent confusion when assigning checkpoints. You can change the name later under Settings > Device name.

Connecting a USB Serial Reader

In most setups, the reader is connected to the phone via a USB OTG adapter. Detailed reader connection setup is covered on the Connection & Reader Setup page.

In brief:

  1. Connect the reader to your phone with a USB OTG cable
  2. Allow Navisport to access the USB device when prompted
  3. Go to Settings and select the correct Reader device type
  4. The connection status indicator shows whether the reader is communicating correctly

Event List

After logging in, the app shows your event list. The list syncs automatically from the cloud — all events you create or are assigned to in the desktop application appear here.

  • Events appear automatically — create them in the desktop application and they sync to all your organization's devices.
  • Offline operation — once an event is downloaded, you can record punches without an internet connection. Results sync back when connectivity returns.
  • Event status — the list shows which events are upcoming, active, or finished.

Tips

  • Name your devices before race day so checkpoint assignment goes quickly.
  • Keep the app updated — new reader support and bug fixes are released through the Play Store.
  • If setting up multiple devices for a large event, log in and name each one in advance.
