General Settings

Device Name

Identifies your phone or tablet in the desktop management panel. When multiple devices are connected to the same event, the device name tells which device is at which point.

Choose a descriptive name like "Finish tablet" or "Start official's phone".

Language

UI language: Finnish, English, Swedish, or Norwegian. Changes all menus, text, and notifications.

Theme

Light or dark mode. Dark mode reduces eye strain in low light.

Clock

Shows the synchronized time. Tap the clock to trigger a manual time sync. The app syncs automatically, but you can force a sync if you suspect clock drift.

Log Data

Tap Show log data to open the log viewer. The log records every timing action:

  • Chip reads (successful and failed)
  • Results saved and sent to server
  • Participant registrations
  • Sync messages and connection status changes

If a result appears to be missing or a chip read didn't register, check the log for what happened and when. Each entry has a timestamp.

You can search the log, send individual entries to the server, or send all log data at once for analysis.

Reader Device Type

Select the reader device connected to your device:

  • EMIT USB — EMIT reader via USB OTG cable
  • EMIT MTR — EMIT Mini Time Recorder
  • EMIT ECU — EMIT ECU reader
  • EMIT ECB/ETS — EMIT base station (ECB) or timing unit (ETS), serial port
  • EMIT ECB/ETS (USB) — EMIT ECB/ETS with USB connection
  • SportIdent USB — SportIdent reader via USB connection
  • SportIdent SRR — SportIdent short-range radio receiver
  • Learnjoy USB — Learnjoy timing reader
  • Huichang USB — Huichang timing reader via USB

Change this when you switch reader hardware — the wrong type causes silent read errors.

Sounds

Enable or disable speech synthesis announcements. When enabled, the app announces participant names and results aloud (in Automaton and Start Clock modes). The chip read confirmation beep always sounds regardless of this setting.

App Functions

Log Out

Logs you out of the current account. Use when handing the device to another organization or switching between accounts.

Close App

Closes the app completely. In normal use, the app can be left running.

Tips

  • Set the device name before connecting to an event — it helps the desktop user identify your checkpoint.
  • Sync the clock at the start of each event day, especially if the device was powered off overnight.
  • Check log data if a participant claims they read their chip but no result appears.
  • Dark mode can extend battery life on OLED screens.
  • If you switch reader hardware during an event, remember to update the reader device type.
  • The device name appears in the desktop event monitor in real time — keep it descriptive in multi-device setups.
